BCC Talks

December 7  4:00-6:00 pm
Rastelli Room

Why the circus center?  This is an event in which we get to explore the motivations, oddities, and eccentricities of some of the core BCC users and the little bits of wisdom they have picked up along the way.  Some may want to share their vision of their circus commune and some may want to give advice on how best to deliver your music to a tech director for a theatrical performance.  We all tick in different ways and what we value is pretty broad.  I really can’t tell you what they will say about their relationship to the BCC, but what I can tell you is that it’s probably weird.

10th Anniversary     Juggling Club

December 7  7:00-10:00 pm
Rastelli Room

Juggling club has been happening at the BCC virtually every Sunday for 10 years! So this is a special opportunity to celebrate the BCC as well as one of our favorite BCC ongoing events. There will be snacks and cake, there will be special contests, there will be prizes, and best of all, there will be lots of people juggling and having a great time!

BCC Historical Society Tea

December 8  6:00-8:00 pm
Upstairs Apartment

Ever wonder how the BCC was created? Ever wanted to see some photos of what things were like before we transformed this space into the marvel we all love? This is your chance, come hang out with founding (and current) BCC Manager Sven Jorgensen, enjoy some tea and snacks, and learn how it all started. This is also a great time to hang out and get to know other BCC users.

Cirque Annivers-Array

December 13  4:00 pm
Rastelli Room

Over the years we have hosted some variety shows as a chance for those who work so hard here to get to show off their skills. This is a very special edition of the Cirque Array, celebrating 10 years of the BCC. Come one, come all to a delightful evening of circus skills celebrated. Contact Lani or Sven if you want to be in the show. And if this isn’t enough performing for you, Aircat Aerial Arts is hosting their student showcase the following day.

Community Work Day

Circus background

As we move along through our 10th year of operation, we are working on some long term projects here at the BCC. The purpose of these projects is to keep the Circus Center in great shape so that we can serve our community and continue to cultivate a greater connection amongst all who participate in activities at the BCC. These projects range from creating a community garden, to some long term maintenance tasks that are coming due, to refinishing our beautiful dance floors, to hosting potlucks and establishing a performance incubation program to bring new shows into the world.

This month we are hosting our first community work party. For those of you who know what an amazing value it is to be able to rent 3200 Square feet of space at only $20/hour, and want a chance to give back to the space that supports your work, this is an opportunity to contribute a little sweat equity to keep the BCC functioning at its best. This weekend we will be tackling some tasks such as weeding our rock perimeter, working on the community garden area, repairing the picnic tables, and possibly doing some deep cleaning tasks like dusting that little lip along the top of the base-boards. This is also an opportunity to get to have fun getting to know other members of the BCC community.

So please, stop by for an hour or several hours, throw a little elbow grease into the amazing space, and feel a greater sense of investment in the space that supports your work in the world. We will have some work gloves on hand, but bring your own if you have them. We will provide some snacks and refreshments. Thanks so much for caring about our space and making great things happen here!

Details: Sunday 4/20/14 from 10am to 6pm.
Bring work gloves, garden tools, rubber gloves
Enjoy community, volunteerism and snacks!

We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Community Party

The BCC will be hosting a community party on February 27th, 2014!  Open to the public, this will be a potluck style evening.  Bring a dish to share.  Meet the BCC managers, as well as other key people who help run the center from day to day.

Thursday, February 27th
7-11pm, upstairs in the apartment and La Trixie
